Description

Our ideal Creative Strategist is enthusiastic to work for a community-centric, mission driven non-profit. Must be a self-starter who is able to prioritize the workload effectively, as well as demonstrate the ability to work under pressure without compromising creativity or accuracy.

Role and Responsibilities

The Creative Strategist will use their multi-disciplinary experience to design in various platforms.

  • Strategic Campaign Leadership: Guides the creative direction of integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring consistency, cohesion, and alignment with the organization's broader goals. Provides strategic input from concept through execution, developing impactful storytelling across all platforms.
  • Creative Integration Across Channels: Leverages expertise and creation in website development, data integration, video and photography, print, and digital media to ensure all creative outputs are aligned and reinforce the JCC Denver brand identity.
  • Collaborative Concept Development: Partners with internal teams and external contractors to develop creative briefs, visual direction, and cross-functional assets that align with campaign strategies. Offers leadership in articulating and implementing brand narratives across media.
  • Innovation and Trend Awareness: Actively researches visual, cultural, and design trends to ensure JCC Denver remains fresh, modern, and relevant. Recommends innovations in tools, formats, and messaging strategies that enhance audience engagement.
  • Creative Oversight and Quality Control: Assists in setting and maintaining standards for design excellence across all marketing materials. Ensures clarity, creativity, and consistency in all visual communications.
  • Mentorship and Direction: Provides informal creative direction to contractors and vendors, offering guidance and feedback that elevate the quality of deliverables. Works closely with leadership to help shape the evolving creative vision of the organization.
  • Visionary Thinking and Growth: Approaches each project with a creative director’s mindset—balancing innovation with practical execution, and strategy with aesthetics. Continuously contributes ideas and leadership that position JCC Denver as a bold, mission-driven, and visually distinctive community institution.
  • Design with a high vision for digital and print to ensure all images, videos, writing, audio, etc. are consistent across platforms. 
  • Create a range of responsive cross-platform work including web, email, animated banners, and mobile.
  • Responsible for the design and production of promotional materials including brochures, booklets, folders, cards, and more.
  • Clearly and consistently reinforces JCC branding parameters and designs targeted media resources for defined audiences.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to ensure a consistent look and feel to ensure congruent communications strategy.
  • Maximizes use and understanding in the design and application of typography, color theory, branding, photo styling, and selection.
  • Works efficiently, effectively, and independently to complete assignments in a fast-paced environment with many competing project and related demands, including tight deadlines, unexpected delays, revisions, ad hoc requests, and changing priorities.
  • Weekly website updates and ongoing maintenance.
  • Designs online marketing materials and advertising (including e-newsletters, e-mails, digital signage, website page updates, website graphics/buttons, program updates, etc.).
  • Other Duties as assigned to support the Marketing Team

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in graphic design or related area
  • Three+ years of graphic design experience.
  • A passion for design and technology.
  • A keen eye and focus on details.
  • Strong knowledge of brand and creative development processes, effective digital design, and communication practices.
  • Advanced skills in Mac/PC Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom.
  • Experience with WordPress and basic HTML & CSS.
  • Experience and knowledge of digital design.
  • Experience creating static and interactive digital ads (video and animation).
  • Experience creating web graphics and unique online experiences.
  • Thorough knowledge of pre-press processes and print production.
  • Ability to evaluate content and suggest improvements for highly effective design outcomes.
  • Outstanding time and project management skills, and the ability to deliver in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage multiple projects and people simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of printing processes
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design.

  • Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a business environment
  • To perform the essential duties of the job, the employee must be able to speak, hear, and see.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Benefits Overview

Full time employees are benefits-eligible. The JCC contributes a portion of medical, dental and vision plan premiums and pays for Basic Life Insurance & AD&D, Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability for Full-Time employees. There are additional voluntary benefit plans available. The JCC has a 401(K) Plan available for elective deferral contributions for employees over 21 years of age, with no waiting period. Paid Time Off is a day-one benefit, accrued based on years of service and in compliance with the Colorado Healthy Families & Workplaces Act.
