Description

A Parent Partner is responsible for providing one-on-one guidance and support to families or caregivers of Intensive Services clients in a variety of environments and community settings.  A Parent Partner is expected to exercise professional judgment and discretion as a significant member of the Child and Family Team (CFT).  Wraparound staff must complete all training requirements per DMH contract within the first year of employment. This position works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor or Program Manager.

 

DUTIES:
1. ADVOCACY: Utilizes personal and professional life experience to provide advocacy and support to parents/caregivers of our active clients.
2. OBJECTIVES: Develops measurable objectives for clients/families and monitors progress toward those goals.
3. CASE MANAGEMENT: Provides general case management and skill building for client’s and their and families in accordance with the policies of the program and referring/regulatory agencies (DMH, DCFS, Probation, schools).
4. LINKAGE: Explores and provides linkage to appropriate educational, social and other informal community support services in the school, district and community for parents and families, providing at least one resource to a family per week.
5. EDUCATION: Delivers a wide range of direct parent-education activities (facilitates parent support groups 1x per month, workshops, and in-service trainings).
6. STREGTH BASED: Adheres to a non-judgmental, strength-based model while regularly collaborates with Masada Staff, clients, caregivers and supports, and other members of the clinical team.
7. BOUNDARIES: Ensures delivery of family-centered practice strategies with client’s caregivers within professional boundaries, while maintaining flexible service delivery.
8. TRAVEL: Travels independently to various environments (buildings with stairs, various communities, schools, etc.) to provide at least 75% of services in the field.
9. PRODUCTIVITY: Meets all productivity requirements and completes all necessary documentation required of the position set forth by the agency Tier System and internal policies.
10. MEETINGS: Attends staff meetings, CFT meetings, in-service training and conferences as required and scheduled.
11. SUPERVISION: Meets regularly with supervisor individually and in group to review cases and communicate critical issues to supervisor and team in a timely fashion.
12. CRISIS: Ensures the safety of clients by providing direct crisis intervention and therapeutic guidance and participates in the 24-hour/day, 7-day/week on-call crisis response system.
13. CONFIDENTIALITY: Maintains strict confidentiality over all records and information relative to minors.
14. TRAINING: Must complete the PPTA (12-Day Parent Partner Training Academy) and certificate.
15. OTHER: Performs other duties as prescribed by supervisor.

Qualifications

1. High school graduate or GED.

2. Must have been the parent or primary care giver (not foster parent) of a child/youth who received services from DCFS, Probation, State Regional Center, or Department of Mental Health.

3. No current open DCFS or Probation case for at least one (1) year.

4. Valid California Drivers License, good driving record, and must be able to drive to fulfill the duties of the position.

 

 

$1,000 Signing Bonus - Receive first half of the $1,000 on the first paycheck and the second half after 6 months of employment.
