Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Pharmacists are to provide pharmacy services such as filling prescriptions, compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals, counseling patients as well as medical practitioners regarding medicines. Pharmacists are responsible to ensure safe, proper, and cost-effective usage of medicines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Prepares and dispenses the prescribed medicines to medical practitioners or patients.
2. Counsels heath care providers or patients regarding drug interactions, indications, drug dosage and side effects.
3. Makes proper decisions concerned to generic and therapeutic substitution of medicines that are prescribed.
4. Provides information or knowledge on other drugs or pharmaceuticals as appropriate.
5. Provides training and guidance to pharmacy support personnel throughout course of their work and monitoring their performance.
6. Manages the acquisition and disbursal of medicines to various clinics, offices and other sites.
7. Establishes and maintains methods and style of storage and record maintaining systems for providing safekeeping of pharmaceuticals.
8. Supervises the Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy clerks and manages daily production to ensure all duties are completed in a timely fashion to meet delivery schedules
9. Fully competent and able to perform Staff Pharmacist responsibilities; work as a scheduled pharmacist on the floor among the staff
10. Communicates regularly on a daily basis with the Director of Pharmacy regarding issues or concerns that impact timely production, safety, or compliance
11. Ensures that newly hired Pharmacists are trained
12. Assists the Director of Pharmacy in staffing/scheduling to ensure appropriate licensed coverage as required by Board of Pharmacy
13. Oversees all CII ordering, inventory control systems, and dispensing to ensure proper record keeping and dispensing within State and Federal regulations
14. Evaluate workflow processes and implement changes as necessary to achieve greater, safety and/or regulatory compliance
15. Supports Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and our commitment to provide care to all Variety patients that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable.  Provide leadership and work with all staff to achieve the goals of the “Triple Aim” of healthcare reform—to improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs.

Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge: 

1. Pharm. D. / Doctor of Pharmacy.
2. Must be licensed and in good standing with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
3. Strong commitment to customer service and willing to provide some clinical services.
4. Experience in PioneerRx system.
5. Knowledge of related certification and accreditation requirements.
6. Experience training and supervising assigned staff.
7. Experience maintaining quality, infection or safety control standards.
8. Experience working with multiple demands.

Preferred Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge: 

1. Retail pharmacy experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

1. Able to lift at least 25 pounds.
2. Able to walk, bend, lift, and remain on feet for extended periods of time.
