Field Technician

Aspect Consulting, LLC (Aspect), an earth science and engineering consulting firm, is seeking an entry-level field technician to join our team of strategic advisors in support of our environmental and infrastructure practices. We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused person that can work on the following primary responsibilities:

  • Perform various field activities including, but not limited to: landfill gas monitoring, ground water monitoring and sampling, soil sampling with hand tools, drilling oversight, turbidity monitoring, inclinometer monitoring, and construction observation
  • Record collected data accurately
  • Communicate data to project managers verbally and in written field reports
  • Enter collected data into Excel spreadsheets and databases
  • Create charts, graphs, heat maps, and 3D visualizations of data to include in reports and presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology; commensurate experience may substitute
  • Knowledge of field sampling techniques and processes
  • Knowledge of applicable equipment and sampling/testing devices, including transducers, meters, pumps, bailers, etc.
  • Basic mechanical skills to perform adjustments or minor repairs to field equipment
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  •  Ability to maintain a high level of quality on multiple tasks and projects
  • Self-motivated and driven by results
  • Knowledge of how to use proper personal protective equipment and understanding of field safety practices
  • Field work experience strongly preferred; may be obtained through course work
  • HAZWOPER certification preferred, or must acquire upon hire
  • Valid State Driver’s License required

Working Conditions

  • Often works in an outside environment, potentially on uneven terrain. There will also be some work in an office environment
  • May work in inclement weather conditions
  • May work variable hours
  • Will need to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Requires both local travel and overnight travel
