Main Plant - Sanford, FL

The primary purpose of the Quality Inspector position is to perform quality control checks on in-process company products, incoming vendor products, and outgoing customer products to ensure they meet the defined standards for quality and completeness. The Quality Inspector efficiently monitors the integrity and quality of products without impeding production rates and without sacrificing quality or safety.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and disposition in-coming and in-process materials to EP, customer drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct visual and measurement tests including First Article inspection: rejects and returns unacceptable materials to the department or vendor responsible for rework or scrap, only if necessary.
  • Upon finding nonconforming material whether in process or incoming material from vendors, determines disposition with Engineering, Sales or Management and writes reports as required.
  • Perform calibrations or review calibrations on designated test equipment and update logs and records.
  • Assist and/or train operators on part visual acceptability, measurement and process procedures as required.
  • Approve finished products to drawings and specifications.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into defined databases or report templates.
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and initiating repairs.
  • Perform bench inspection for sorting of non-conforming material to return to production or to the vendor for further processing.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent quality experience is required.
  • Previous experience in the metal forming industry is preferred.
  • Possess a good knowledge of math and units of measure in the standard and metric systems.
  • Experience in interpreting drawings using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement equipment.
  • Effective communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic PC skills, including Outlook, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Possess visual awareness and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write proficiently in English.

Working Conditions:

  • On occasion, there may be exposure to contaminants on the plant floor. Workplace controls and PPE are provided as required.
  • There may be exposure to loud noise levels on the plant floor. Hearing protection is provided.
  • Working with metal – long pants are required, and gloves are available.

Physical Demands

  • Must have full range of motion and be able to kneel and bend for extended periods of time as tasks may require.
  • This position requires continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • This position requires long periods of standing.
  • This position requires lifting and maneuvering 50lbs. without physical restrictions and up to 70lbs with assistance of lifting equipment or with the assistance of other Team Members.
