Description

The Master Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overall operational readiness of the BMW US Rider Academy motorcycle fleet. This role ensures all motorcycles meet BMW factory specifications for performance, safety, and reliability. The technician will support daily training operations, special events, fleet refresh cycles, new model integration, and coordination with BMW Motorrad USA Engineering and Technical Service teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance on BMW motorcycles in accordance with BMW Motorrad factory standards and warranty guidelines.
  • Conduct daily fleet inspections to ensure bikes are safe, clean, and fully functional prior to training or tour activities.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance cycles and track mileage intervals across the fleet.
  • Maintain accurate service records, parts usage logs, and repair documentation in alignment with BMW technical and audit requirements.
  • Prepare motorcycles for Rider Academy classes, corporate training events, press events, and international tours.
  • Support new model setup, break-in miles, configuration, and technical evaluation.
  • Identify and report quality, reliability, or performance concerns through appropriate BMW Motorrad feedback channels (PuMA, Engineering evaluations, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Parts, Inventory, and Logistics personnel to ensure parts availability and fleet readiness.
  • Assist instructional staff with on-site troubleshooting, rapid repairs, tire changes, and safety checks during training operations.
  • Manage workshop tools, equipment, shop cleanliness, and compliance with BMW Performance Center safety standards.
  • Periodically support off-site demonstrations, events, and motorcycle fleet transport (as needed).

Qualifications

Education

  • Current BMW Motorrad Master Technician Certification or the ability to obtain BMW Master Technician status within defined onboarding timeline.
  • CDL (Class A or B) or willingness to obtain for fleet transportation support

Experience

  • 3+ years professional motorcycle service experience (BMW experience preferred).
  • Valid motorcycle endorsement and ability to safely operate all BMW motorcycle models
  • Prior experience with motorcycle fleet management or high-utilization environments.
  • Experience supporting rider training organizations, motorsport operations, or dealership service departments.

Skills 

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, and CAN-bus troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work at a high pace while maintaining precision and documentation accuracy.
  • Professional communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, push/pull motorcycles safely, and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Comfort working in varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on training and operational needs.

Schedule

  • Full-time on-site position
  • Must be able to work days, evenings, or night shifts as business needs require
  • Overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs may be required
