Job Summary:

Develop, implement and manage quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of advanced composite materials and applications (consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals). Supervise a team of quality control inspectors.

Personal Characteristics:

Requires interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information. Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities. Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations. Person must have very strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) along with the ability to follow-up

We are looking for someone assertive, passionate and diplomatic with the ability to achieve high quality results in an efficient and effective manner. The successful candidate needs to be a pro-active self-started that can work independently.

Principal Areas of Responsibility:

As Quality Control Manager, this position is to:

  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service, investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality
  • Supervise workers engages in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products
  • Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams
  • Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
  • Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures
  • Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within Company
  • Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes
  • Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts
  • Create and direct environmental test functions and applications
  • Maintain active role on internal Continuous Improvement teams
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs

Specific Duties:

Position must possess the following skills, qualifications and capabilities:

  • Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs
  • The ability to complete projects and any other duties and activities as assigned or necessary to support the Operation, other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering desired with strong analytical skills is required

Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering desired with a minimum of 7 years related experience required

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed above.
  • Mentor to staff, passing on knowledge and best practices.
  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
  • Handle multiple projects (multi-task) in a fast-paced organization with shifting priorities.
  • Resourceful, “hand-on”, “roll-up sleeves” approach to work while maintaining professionalism, positive demeanor and quality-focused manner.
  • Excellent time management skills. Readily accessible, punctual and resourceful with the ability to work beyond the normal business hours, including weekends.
