Waystone is looking for a Staff Accountant to assist in the accounting and internal reporting plus provide backup support to other positions in the department. The Staff Accountant is a key position within our Fiscal department.

Location: 439 South Union Street, Lawrence, MA 01843

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. This position is not remote, it is on-site at our main office. This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire.

Compensation: This is a 40-hour non-exempt, full-time position. The hourly rate is $24.75 - 28.25.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Controller and Senior Accountant in daily operations including the daily cash summary, cash projections, accuracy of wire requests, cash management, bank relationships, accounts receivable, payroll accounting and correspondence
- Prepare monthly account analyses for balance sheet and expense accounts.
- Review bank accounts reconciliation and in a timely manner with attention to unusual items that remain outstanding at the end of month.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving accounts payable batches, and processing payments.
- Assist in working with internal and external auditors during annual and interim audits.
- Prepare reconciliations and schedules for the annual audit.
- Prepare Annual Financial Reports such as the Center for Healthcare Information Analysis (CHIA), etc.
- Assist in the preparation of data analytics for accreditation and proposal submissions, such as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Request for Response (RFR), etc.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budget, capital budgets, forecasts and variance analyses.
- Advise staff on compliance issues.
- Process Payroll as needed using Paycom.
- Assist Contract Manager & Accounts Receivable Specialist as needed.
- Perform ad hoc projects or duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Qualifications:
- Master's Degree strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the degree.
- Three years of applicable experience in accounting, optimally in human services or other multi-divisional organization.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Hands-on experience with accounting software
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), along with comfort using general office technology and equipment.
- Candidates must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to create and implement the family support plan, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals
- Valid driver’s license in good standing with minimum of 1 year driving experience
