GENERAL FUNCTION: Provides for the protection, physical safety, and well-being of children ages 12-17 years, including nonminor dependents and their children in a residential treatment setting. Supervises group and/or individual planned activities according to a daily schedule and provides guidance and direction to staff to ensure the safety and care of all residents. May serve as facility manager based on qualifications. May serve as the designated substitute when the Administrator is absent.
MAJOR TASKS:
1. Assure safety of residents and their children in Residential Services.
2. Intervene as needed when residents’ behavior affects the safety and well-being of other residents and/or their children.
3. Coordinate daily activities of residents per the daily schedule, i.e. chore assignments, self-passes, school attendance, meals, recreation, medical appointments, visits, planned activities, and court appointments.
4. Provide situational and group crisis intervention to residents.
5. Lead and direct Residential Counselors in crisis or emergency situations including carrying out Pro-ACT interventions.
6. Participate in assisted self-administration of medication for residents in accordance with the Residential Services Health Care and Medication Training plan.
7. Coordinate with the Program Manager to assure a Program Manager and/or Supervisor is on shift at all times.
8. Provide recommendations to Program Managers of general and individual staff training needs.
9. Assist Program Managers in developing evaluation goals for Residential Counselors.
10. Provide care that is knowledgeable and respectful of differing cultures and the norms that exist within various cultures.
11. Assure reasonable and prudent parent standards are used for decisions involving children and nonminor dependents, train staff on, and model, reasonable and prudent parent standards.
12. Participate in milieu treatment planning and implementation.
13. Utilize each resident’s Needs and Services Plan to ensure services are provided in support of identified goals.
14. Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.
15. Sign up for on call shifts as required by the program to always maintain staff to client ratios.
16. Record daily progress notes for each resident and provide to Quality Assurance Specialist for filing.
17. Complete personal belonging inventory and ensure clients have adequate clothing per inventory standards.
18. Submit maintenance requests via intranet for completion by Facilities Team.
19. Report all janitorial and hygiene needs to Program Coordinator and Program Specialist.
20. Transport residents to appointments using agency and/or personal vehicle.
21. May perform Waived Tests, as needed.
22. Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
