Job Summary:
The Facility Specialist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and clean environment for all who enter Peachtree Presbyterian Church. This position ensures that the physical spaces are well maintained, presentable, and prepared for worship services, preschool operations, community events, and other church activities.
Work Schedule
Year-round, Part-Time Position
- Core shifts include weekends and midweek support as follows:
- Option 1: Saturday and Sunday (10 hours each)
- Option 2: Saturday (8 hours), Sunday (8 hours), and Wednesday (4 hours)
Must be able to reliably open the church on Sunday mornings
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for custodial services and facility support.
Daily and Weekly Facility Cleaning
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain interior areas including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, kitchens, meeting rooms, and sanctuary
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, scrub, strip, and wax floors as necessary
- Dust furniture, windowsills, blinds, light fixtures, and horizontal surfaces
- Clean windows, mirrors, and interior glass
- Sanitize high-touch areas such as door handles, railings, restroom fixtures, and drinking fountains
- Empty and dispose of trash and recycling from all designated receptacles
- Restock supplies in restrooms, kitchens, and other supply stations
Event Support and Facility Operations
- Open and secure church buildings before and after services, meetings, and special events
- Set up and tear down worship services, weddings, funerals, church meetings, and special events (tables, chairs, AV carts, signage, tents, etc.)
- Report maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Manager
- Maintain exterior entrances and walkways (sweeping, blowing, trash removal)
- Ensure Sunday worship and midweek programs are fully prepared from a facility standpoint
Specialized Duties
- Clean and reset preschool and nursery school classrooms in compliance with child safety and sanitation standards
- Assist staff and guests with facility-related needs and serve as a liaison for the Hospitality and Events Teams
- Report facility damage or safety hazards
- Assist with seasonal deep cleaning projects (e.g., carpet shampooing, window washing)
