Description

Who is Comprehensive Healthcare?
Comprehensive Healthcare provides innovative behavioral health and integrated healthcare services to clients of all ages. We take pride in our creative and collaborative work environment and in delivering clinically excellent, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented services.

What are we looking for in an MST Therapist?

Therapists with our Multisystemic Therapy (MST) team empower youth and families to address problematic behaviors and make life-transforming changes. MST Therapists work in close collaboration with youth, their families, their communities, and other key members of their support systems to address the needs of the teen who is engaging in problematic and criminal behaviors, and in some cases, substance abuse. Utilizing a strengths-based approach, MST Therapists support families with intensive interventions to address the youth’s problems with family, peers, and school, and increase social supports. MST Therapists work with families to build skills that lead to productive family interactions, such as instilling rewards and consequences for behaviors, increasing warmth in the home, and developing conflict resolution skills for each family member. Extensive research has proven the effectiveness of the Multisystemic Therapy model to make sustainable behavior change for youth ages 12 to 17 years old. Because this treatment modality requires a holistic approach, it also has the benefits of serving a small caseload of families, flexible scheduling to support families when and where they are available, and a supportive team environment. Clinical supervision and training in evidence-based practices are provided as part of this position. Although the work schedule will be mostly Monday-Friday day shift, due to the nature of the role, the MST Therapist must be willing to serve youth and their families outside of regular business hours, including scheduling evening and weekend appointments when needed. Emergency call coverage is also provided on a rotating basis with additional compensation.

MST Therapist duties may include:

  • collaborating with each youth & their family to develop individualized intervention strategies that reduce antisocial behaviors and allow the family to effectively address problems
  • working with each family to identify ways to increase their youth’s school attendance, involvement, and achievement; and to help youth increase prosocial activity and build positive peer groups
  • creating runaway prevention plans with each family
  • facilitating skill-building sessions and providing individual & family counseling
  • assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
  • thorough and timely completion of required clinical documentation
  • providing routine services & crisis coverage outside of regular business hours as required to meet the needs of each family

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field
  • Must be eligible for or working toward independent licensure (LICSW or LMHC) in Washington
  • Must be eligible for registration as Agency Affiliated Counselor
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle liability insurance, and at least two years of driving experience
  • In compliance with state and federal law, Comprehensive Healthcare requires all candidates to complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check. Please refer to WAC 388-113-0020 through 388-113-0030 for information on criminal convictions and pending charges that automatically disqualify an individual from working for Comprehensive Healthcare. Please refer to RCW 49.44.240 for information on pre-employment drug screening.
