What are we looking for in a Behavioral Health Specialist?

The Behavioral Health Specialist for the Youth Mobile Outreach team responds in the community to requests for youth outreach services throughout Kittitas County. The goal of the Youth Mobile Outreach team is to reduce the use of emergency departments, hospitals, and detention centers for young people experiencing a crisis by offering an alternative for support and access to services in the community when a mental health emergency does occur. This position focuses on providing rapid, expert crisis intervention and support for youth and families experiencing behavioral health crises. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll work alongside a Certified Peer Counselor (CPC), Designated Crisis Responders (DCRs), and other behavioral health professionals and community members to stabilize crises and connect youth with essential services. The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Behavioral Health Specialist duties may include:

  • Advocate for youth access to appropriate behavioral health, substance use, and wraparound services to promote long-term stability
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and resolution throughout Kittitas County, working within a collaborative team environment
  • Conduct face-to-face crisis assessments in partnership with DCRs, CPCs, and other MCOT members
  • Assess and ensure the safety of clients, the community, and staff during crisis outreach
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to stabilize clients in the least restrictive environment
  • Coordinate with law CMH-88 Page 3 enforcement, medical personnel, social service agencies, and family members to develop appropriate crisis intervention plans
  • Maintain knowledge of Washington State ITA laws (RCW 71.05 & 71.34) and other crisis intervention regulations
  • Provide education and support to clients, family members, and community partners on accessing behavioral health and substance use services
  • Develop and implement individualized safety plans and least restrictive alternatives for crisis resolution
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of crisis interventions in compliance with agency and regulatory standards
  • Participate in team meetings, clinical case reviews, and ongoing training to enhance crisis response effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field
  • MHP status is required, to obtain that, applicant must have or be eligible for AACC, AACL, LMHC, LMHCA, LICSW, LICSWA, as well as NPI registration
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance with at least two years of driving experience
  • In compliance with state and federal law, Comprehensive Healthcare requires all candidates to complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
