Job Summary

 

Manager, Public Affairs, supports Brand USA’s engagement with Congress and grassroots stakeholders. This role executes day-to-day outreach activities, drafts briefings, and supports the development of collateral materials, ensuring Congress and local influencers are informed and aligned with Brand USA’s mission.

 

Essential Functions

 

Legislative Relations

  • Maintain regular communication with Hill staff, delivering regular updates and data.
  • Monitor legislation, hearings, and policy developments relevant to Brand USA specifically and inbound tourism in general.
  • Draft talking points, summaries, and background documents for engagements.

Grassroots Programming

  • Execute programs in high-priority states and districts to amplify local awareness and support.
  • Identify and develop state and municipal-level Brand USA champions.
  • Gather testimonials and local stories to support federal messaging.

Collateral Development and Distribution

  • Help produce and update state fact sheets, Brand USA 101 materials, and impact video content.
  • Support the dissemination of consistent, state-relevant messaging to policymakers.

Event and Activation Support

  • Assist in logistical preparation for Hill events, site visits, and related activations.
  • Track meeting notes, outcomes, and follow-ups on a consistent basis.
  • Reports to work on a regular basis and is available for occasional after-hours emergency calls and projects.

Job Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in government and political science, communications, history, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in government and political affairs, with knowledge of marketing, tourism, and the travel industry.
  • Ability to execute goals and priorities in alignment with business objectives. 
  • Ability to solve problems based on practice and precedent. 
  • Ability to provide input on setting operating standards, procedures, and policies. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with colleagues, and work productively with a diverse team. 
  • Fervent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • A dedicated remote work area that is quiet enough for employees to concentrate is required. Must have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance and the ability to comply with company technology, safety, and health requirements. 
  • Ability to travel on occasion as required to attend meetings and/or events. 
  • Ability to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. 
  • Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds. 
  • Ability to perform the essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation. 
  • May require more than forty (40) hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

Schedule

 

Brand USA’s business hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our standard work hours may vary based on position requirements. Additional hours may be required during peak times, which may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.
