Data Projections has a current opening to add an experienced audio-visual commissioning specialist to our team.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented senior level Audio Visual (AV) Technician / Commissioning Specialist to join our team. This role is focused on the technical execution, testing, and commissioning of AV systems in commercial environments. You’ll work hands-on in the field, ensuring that systems are installed correctly and function flawlessly according to project specifications.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Support all aspects of post sales project integration from beginning to end of the project lifecycle 

  • Attend Job Initiation Meeting (JIM) to understand the SOW and determine the most optimal approach to proving desired functionality given the BOM, client network infrastructure and desired functionality.   

  • Perform prefabrication of systems in the shop to test and confirm functionality as required. 

  • Test and commission the final installation of entire system including proper installation, set-up, calibration and operation of DSP-based audiovisual components and networked AV control systems and perform on-site customer/end-user training on advanced systems 

  • Write code for DSP systems 

  • Create networked systems via LANs or Wireless networks for all AV systems 

  • Upload and test programming file of control programs with the ability to make minor programming changes  

  • Configure IP addressable devices to establish communication on a network 

  • Collaborate and support Project Managers in the successful delivery of all projects 

  • Provide any and all post installation documentation, including red lined drawings, network information, MAC addresses, etc. back to Project Management. 

  • Train installation teams on any new technology solutions and technology solutions they have not deployed or are unfamiliar with when they are required for a project.  

  • Ensure technical knowledge is kept up-to-date by ongoing liaison with suppliers and manufacturers to successfully deliver projects 

  • Other related duties as assigned 

 

Education, Certification and/or Experience 

Minimum high school diploma or GED - Degree preferred and 5+ years experience with A/V installations including equipment rack fabrication, site preparation, termination and calibration of audio and video equipment, and implementation of control systems or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.  

 

  1. AVIXA CTS certification with Advanced CTS-I 

  1. CompTia Network or CCNA certifications desirable but not required 

  1. Crestron DMC-E, DM-NVX, Crestron P101, and Crestron CTI P201 Level Certification are desired but not required 

  1. Microsoft MCA Certification desired but not required 

  1. Biamp Tesira Server Training desired but not required 

  1. Extron NAV Specialist Training desired but not required 

 

Qualifications 

  • Technical knowledge of AV and Video conferencing equipment from all major manufacturers 

  • Knowledge of the current AV marketplace including the trends and products 

  • Excellent understanding of IT and network infrastructures 

  • Technical knowledge and proficiency in basic MS office applications, including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 

  • Ability to think and work independently 

  • Ability to demonstrate organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills  

  • Experience in reading/understanding architecture, electrical, structural & AV systems drawings a plus 

  • A teachable disposition and a willing attitude towards continuing education 

  • Flexibility to work outside the job description when the need arises 

  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment 

  • Analytical and problem-solving/troubleshoot abilities 

  • Self-starter with keen attention to detail 

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment 

  • Possible out of town projects requiring hotel/multiple overnight trips 

  • Must have valid driver’s license and safe driving record 

  • Communicate daily technical and site specific information to the project team in a comprehensive, thorough and detailed manner. 

  • Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records. 

  • Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and subcontractors. 

  • Ability to travel to various job sites required 

  • Must pass background check and pre-employment screenings 

 

Physical Demands 

  • Sitting, standing, stooping and bending for long or extended periods of time 

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools and to handle other office equipment 

  • Ability to frequently lift and transport moderately heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds) 

  • Ability to occasionally lift and transport heavy equipment (up to 75 pounds) 

  • Ability to climb ladder, scaffolding or transported by lifts 

  • Ability to drive/operate a vehicle
