Summary

The Corporate Philanthropy Strategist plays a vital role in shaping a company’s corporate and community engagement initiatives by developing and executing philanthropic strategies that align with philanthropic and business goals and community needs. This role focuses on corporate and community relations strategy, soliciting charitable contributions, and ensuring partnerships maximize positive impact for the organization and align with the mission and values of CHS.

Primary Job Functions

Duties

  • Through strategic portfolio management, build sustainable corporate partnerships to secure financial contributions and promote company engagement with CHS.
  • Collaborate with CHS staff to create and implement engagement opportunities that align corporate partnerships with the mission of CHS.
  • Work closely with fundraising, marketing, program and business development teams to create strategies that integrate corporate giving initiatives.
  • Support Board Members and other leading volunteers in development activities and provide staff leadership for related committees and groups 
  • Serves as an active member of the Agency Leadership Team

  • Display sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics 
  • Demonstrate the CHS Mission, Vision, and Values in the performance of all job duties. 
  • Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends. 
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training, and education, as well as the quality process. 
  • Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures, and other obligations. 
  • Perform other duties related to department goals and projects as needed. 

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, social work, public health, policy, education, or a related field required.
  • Maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle to attend to CHS business 

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience
  • Strong leadership and team building skills; great team leader/player 
  • Ability to design and implement effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies

 

Competencies

Knowledge of:

Philanthropy/Corporate Social Responsibility/Sponsorships

Skills and Proficiency in:

  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising, corporate giving, or philanthropic strategy 
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with corporate partners
  • Working knowledge of grant writing, sponsorship agreements, and corporate social responsibility (CSR)
  • General computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft tools and SalesForce or other comparable CRM platforms

Ability to:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, both in decision-making and the ability to consult with principals to make the best decisions in day-to-day challenges.
  • Ability to collaborate with leadership, using shared decision-making, proactive problem-solving, and regular sharing of key information.
  • Passion for this profession is evidenced in day-to-day performance.
  • Ability to travel domestically on behalf of the work of CHS
  • Ability to work unusual hours and weekends when needed on behalf of the work of CHS.

Schedule Expectations

This position is a salary-exempt job that will require some weekends and evening work, along with working our standard scheduled week. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, you will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours as required. Frequent travel is required to conduct business-related activities.
