FTE:  Full-Time, Academic Year plus one week before and one week after

 

UPrep is seeking a talented, engaging, and compassionate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Special Programs Coordinator to help us advance our vision of being an inclusive community of learners that provides an outstanding education for each individual in a diverse student population. We are looking for someone who can work effectively independently as well as part of a team. We need a leader who understands best practices in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and who is passionate about working with middle and upper school students and enhancing student life.

Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Special Programs Coordinator supports the Director and Program Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging by coordinating activities, as well as planning and facilitating events and programs in the areas of DEIB.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

Programs

  • Student Programming:
    • Helps plan student leadership trips and trainings
    • Chaperones students during overnight and day programs
    • Works with the Director and Program Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging to plan and execute our various whole school events: Puma Heritage Celebration, Social Justice Week, Night Market.
       
  • LEAD (Listen, Engage, Acknowledge, Discuss) Program Director
    • Works with the 4 student LEAD executives to develop, plan, and coordinate the LEAD program
    • Oversees all LEADers (~55-60 students) and manages the LEAD Schoology page and schedule
    • Creates a process for feedback to both LEADers and LEAD adults 
    • Works with Assistant Division Heads to coordinate LEAD conversations and logistics
    • Communicates with the community about LEAD topics and dates
       
  • Service:
    • Works with the DEIB department to build and strengthen community service opportunities for students
    • Advises US Students of Service club
    • Markets, plans, and coordinates community volunteer opportunities
    • Tracks, monitors, and problem-solves student service hour input into MobileServ or other service-management tracking system
    • Maintains and grows community service and service-learning partners

 

General Responsibilities

  • Serves as an advisor to 10-12 students
  • Serves on teams and committees, as assigned
  • Establishes and cultivates community relations by maintaining open dialogue with all of the schools constituencies
  • Actively participates in the full life of the school
  • Vigorously engages in their own professional development
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the schools documents
  • Since safety and security are everyone's responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required
  • 2-3 years experience working with middle and high school students required
  • Experience and interest in working with both middle and upper School students and families required
  • Experience with DEIB programming required
  • Experience in a school environment preferred
  • Experience in areas of social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion preferred
  • Proficiency in more than one language preferred

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple constituents
  • Ability and desire to be collaborative and flexible with a genuine enthusiasm for working with students and adults on and off campus
  • A genuine joy, enthusiasm, and passion for students and for education
  • Ability to balance independent work and self-management
  • Ability to confidently and creatively problem solve
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Skills in project and budget management
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and other database programs
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Flexibility, maturity, and a sense of humor
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
  • Proficient at working in a Microsoft Windows environment, using Office, including Outlook; ability to master common automated systems for record keeping, and confidently learn new technology; Experience with school-focused technology is a plus
  • Ability to talk on the phone
  • Ability to sit and keyboard up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to attend overnights
  • Some travel required, local and national

 

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is $58,000-$64,000 based on education and years of experience.
