Job Summary:
The KHTT Brand Manager is responsible for leading and collaborating with other departments on all aspects of the radio station including on-air content, events, promotions, contesting, external marketing, and digital presence. This position is responsible for managing and scheduling station programming to ensure it aligns with the station's brand and meets the needs of the listeners. Additionally, the role involves hosting a show during a specific timeslot, engaging with the community, and creating a distinctive on-air presence.
Job Responsibilities:
Program Director Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary brand manager for the station, ensuring all programming and on-air content align with the station’s brand identity and strategic goals.
- This leadership role is responsible for managing the strategy and execution of the local Griffin Radio brands to increase audience engagement (ratings growth), digital (uniques / streaming TSL growth), and live entertainment products (audience). The Brand Manager is ultimately responsible for the quality of the product in the market, and by extension, for protecting the station licenses.
Develop and implement the station’s programming strategy to maximize audience growth, engagement, and brand loyalty.
- Oversee the creation, acquisition, and scheduling of on-air content, including music, shows, and special segments, to ensure a consistent and appealing station sound.
- Support the Director of Operations by leading the day-to-day management of programming operations in the market including (but not limited to); managing productivity, cost, technology, and production capabilities; and protecting the station from FCC infringements of On-Air conduct.
- Supervise on-air personnel, assign shifts, oversee training, evaluate performance, and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Ensure all programming complies with FCC regulations and station policies. Oversee daily program logs and weekly satellite schedules. Review station logs and discrepancy reports.
- Oversee market research and analyze audience data to inform programming decisions and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Build and maintain relationships with record labels, artists, and other industry stakeholders to enhance the station’s content and brand presence.
- Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements to continuously improve the station’s programming and brand strategy.
- Seek out, select, and order programming for broadcast from a variety of vendors. Maintain contracts with vendors for program broadcast rights.
- Serve as a representative of the radio station at community and other public events to enhance brand visibility and listener engagement.
On-Air Responsibilities
- Host live radio shows during assigned timeslots, including music, talk segments, interviews, and listener interactions.
- Create compelling and engaging content that resonates with the target audience, encourages listener participation, and strengthens the station’s brand identity.
- Engage with listeners on social media platforms to extend the on-air experience, promote station initiatives, and enhance brand interaction.
- Develop and produce original segments and features that add value to the station’s programming. Prepare and deliver news, sports, and/or weather reports, gathering and rewriting material to fit specific time slots. Announce musical selections, station breaks, commercials, or public service information, and accept requests from the listening audience.
- Operate broadcast equipment and ensure smooth on-air operations. Execute and assist with games, contests, or other on-air competitions.
- Keep daily program logs to provide information on all elements aired during broadcast, such as musical selections and station promotions.
- Record commercials for later broadcast as needed.
Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position is not eligible to work remotely.
