ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:
- Operate snowmaking equipment: Monitor and operate high-pressure water pumps and air compressors to support snow production.
- Understand system infrastructure: Maintain a working knowledge of snowmaking piping systems and valves.
- Work in mountain conditions: Perform snowmaking duties in diverse outdoor winter mountain environments during both day and night shifts.
- Maximize production: Apply practical reasoning and follow snowmaking procedures to ensure optimal snow output
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Equipment operation: Able to safely operate snowcats and snowmobiles.
- Ski/snowboard proficiency: Must be able to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level or above.
- Mechanical aptitude: Light mechanical ability for troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
- Driver’s license: Must hold a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience in snowmaking, machinery operation, or working in outdoor winter conditions is preferred but not mandatory.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This role requires the ability to lift a minimum of 80 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in cold, snowy, and often harsh winter conditions. Snowmakers must be comfortable hiking, lifting, and maneuvering equipment on uneven mountain terrain. The position may include long shifts and working in both daylight and nighttime hours, sometimes in sub-zero temperatures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Snowmakers work outdoors in variable and extreme mountain weather conditions, including snow, wind, low temperatures, and limited visibility. The work is physically demanding and requires reliable performance in remote and high-altitude locations. Snowmakers collaborate closely with team members and report to snowmaking leads and supervisors.
