The Atlantic Council seeks a creative, motivated, and hard-working Young Global Professional to support the administrative and programmatic activities in a fast-paced environment of the Rafik Hariri Center & Middle East Programs. The Young Global Professional will work across the Center’s multiple thematic and regional teams including regional security, advancing accountability for human rights violations and atrocity crimes, economic empowerment, climate change, regional integration, Iran, Syria, Iraq and North Africa.
The ideal candidate will be remarkably well organized, detail-oriented and have experience in administration, communication and event execution and logistics. We encourage our Young Global Professionals to actively engage with events, publications, and strategies of the center. This position will expose the candidate to the writing and editing process for publications and articles, logistical elements of event planning, and the creation of strategic initiatives within a think tank. Young Global Professionals are also highly encouraged to pursue their own research projects, write and publish their own policy briefs or blog posts.
The ideal candidate for the position is at least a college junior, graduate student or recent graduate in good standing, studying international relations, politics, foreign policy or related field. Demonstrable interest in the Middle East and North Africa, international relations, foreign policy, building peace and regional security, and unlocking the region’s human potential though classwork and/or experience are strongly preferred. Successful candidates will have a passion for the work, an entrepreneurial ethos, a collegial spirit and superior communication skills.
This position is fully on-site at our Washington, DC headquarters. Interns will be compensated at a rate of $18.00 per hour.

ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Support the planning and execution of program events, roundtables and webinars
- Draft formal correspondence to government officials, decisionmakers and stakeholders and invitations for events
- Draft supporting documents for public events, such as speaker memos, participants lists and agendas
- Take notes and photos at Council roundtables and strategy sessions for program archives
- Write event recaps following public events to be posted on the Council’s website
- Staff in-person events, meetings and roundtables
- Assist the centers’ communications team with promoting publications, events and media mentions
- Draft social media content for X, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Draft newsletters and email marketing
- Track media mentions and press clips
- Help with the program’s general administrative work
- Updated the program’s contacts database
- Manage center files and platforms
- Support business development research
- Other supporting tasks as neededÂ
- Participate in weekly center-wide meetings, biweekly initiative meetings and monthly Atlantic Council meetings
- Conduct research to support the activities of the Center
- Conduct personal research and writing
