Description

The Atlantic Council seeks an inquisitive special assistant to help organize an expanding fundraising operation supporting global policy programs. The Program Assistant is an integral member of the Business Development team and directly supports the Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships. This individual will be responsible for supporting scheduling, meeting preparation, prospect research, drafting briefing memos, and ensuring data integrity through data entry and management of Salesforce and other databases.


A successful candidate will have a passion for the work, communicate effectively, and enjoy the complexity of supporting a rapidly growing program. Demonstrated knowledge of or interest in international affairs, nonprofit management, fundraising, and communications through classwork and/or experience is strongly preferred. The position requires superb administrative and communication skills and data entry through professional experience and/or academic work.


The position is based in our Washington, DC headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in the office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers at $53,000.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Scheduling: Manages the Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships’ schedule, including all meeting preparation materials, agenda creation, print outs, notetaking, etc.
  • Prospect Research: Assists with prospect research for the Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships.
  • Communications: Drafts correspondence and invitations for meetings and events, in addition to briefings for senior leadership.
  • Project Management: Monitors development pipeline of key donors, tracking deliverables and managing timelines across funding streams.
  • Event Coordination: Support the organization and execution of Council fundraising events. Supports preparing and proofreading letters, generating mail mergers, and tracking responses.
  • Knowledge Management: Supports in maintaining development file management system and data entry.
  • Data Entry: Provide logistical and administrative support on Salesforce, Monday.com, Canva, and other software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant field required with an interest in foreign affairs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills appropriate for operating effectively in a multicultural, international team environment.
  • Proven organizational, time management and project management skills, including ability to manage work from different workstreams.
  • Ability to make sound judgments, assume responsibility, and work independently in a fluid environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Data-driven, detail-oriented, and strong analytical skills.
  • Experience using MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint.
