Summary
AbilityFirst’s Internship program is a unique opportunity for current participants at our sights to gain real-world experience within the Communications Department.
This internship is a great opportunity for a motivated college student pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. to gain practical experience in a dynamic nonprofit setting. Interns will work directly with the Marketing and Communications Manager and communications staff to support storytelling, content creation, and community engagement initiatives.Â
Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, hard-working, and creative. They will demonstrate a professional demeanor, work well with others, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Interns are expected to be able to commute to the various AbilityFirst Locations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Assist in drafting and editing content for social media, newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and website updates
- Help collect, organize, and share participant stories in a respectful and impactful way
- Support the coordination and promotion of events and campaigns
- Assist with internal and external communications, including emails and outreach materials
- Take and organize photos or videos from events and activities (as permitted)
- Help maintain consistent branding and messaging across all platforms
- Conduct research on communications strategies, media trends, and outreach best practices
- Provide administrative support to the communications and development teams as needed
- Maintain organized digital files of media assets and communications materials
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program and organization
