Description

SUMMARY: The SBA Manager leads the bank’s Small Business Administration lending program, ensuring compliance with SBA guidelines while driving business growth through government-guaranteed lending. This position is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing SBA loan production, overseeing the SBA loan pipeline, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, internal departments, and regulatory agencies.

 

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead and manage the SBA lending function across the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the SBA loan portfolio in alignment with the bank's goals through indirect origination support.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with all commercial lending staff to identify and structure government-guaranteed lending opportunities.
  • Indirectly originate and structure SBA 7(a), 504, and Express loans, including packaging, underwriting, and closing.
  • Ensure full compliance with SBA regulations and internal credit policies.
  • Supervise SBA team members and coordinate with Credit, Loan Operations, and Compliance teams.
  • Manage loan packaging vendors and maintain oversight of third-party relationships.
  • Provide guidance and training to lenders and business development officers on SBA programs.
  • Represent the bank in external SBA-related events, associations, and outreach initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on loan pipeline, performance metrics, and SBA guarantee recovery efforts.
  • Stay current with SBA program changes and communicate updates bank-wide.
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned to support organizational objectives and enhance operational efficiency.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach.
  • Simple grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Extended keyboarding.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in SBA lending, with a strong understanding of SBA SOPs and eligibility requirements.
  • Prior experience managing a team in a commercial or business lending environment.
  • Proven track record of successful SBA loan origination and portfolio growth.
  • Strong credit analysis, structuring, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proficient in SBA lending software and Microsoft Office applications.
