Description

The Systems Administrator is the primary agent of the Seminary for ensuring the security of personal account data through credentialed access and permission management.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Supports account management for all Seminary systems
    • Provides initial configuration of seminary accounts for faculty, staff, and students.
    • Ensures the accurate and effective integration of credentials between secure Seminary systems.
    • Verifies authorization for access to interfaces and information.
    • Configures account management systems.
  2. Manages permissions related services of Asbury Seminary infrastructure, including:
    • Google Suite administration
    • Active Directory administration
    • Mitel phone system administration
    • Group Policy administration
    • Campus Nexus ERP and related systems
    • EMS Scheduling system
    • Great Plains reports system
    • Network configuration
    • Firewall configuration
  3. Ensures the security of protected information
    • Ensures compliance with relevant institutional, local, state, and federal laws and guidelines regarding privacy and security.
    • Regularly reviews account and credential systems and reports on usage.
    • Identifies potential areas of concern or vulnerability.
  4. Maintains Specified Workstations and Applications Servers.
    • Maintains image for workstation configuration (SCCM).
    • Identifies and implements critical patches and security updates for servers and workstations by using Active Directory Policy and SCCM.
    • Configures and updates Papercut and Alertus server software.
    • Deploys updated client software to Windows workstations.
    • Tests operation of Omnilert and Alertus desktop alerts on a monthly basis.
    • Installs and configures printers on the print server for use in Papercut.
  5. Addresses support requests related to account access as required.
    • Monitors appropriate support channels including the Help Desk ticket system.
    • Assists in troubleshooting problems with logins and passwords, including systems involved therewith.
  6. Secondary Functions
    • Assists the Support area with Tier II and above support requests as needed.
    • Assists the Senior Network Administrator as needed.
  7. Other Responsibilities
    • On call for issues related to Systems and Administrative Technology.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. Undergraduate or technical degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  2. Knowledge of Microsoft solutions including but not limited to Server 2012+, PowerShell, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Reporting Services/Power BI.
  3. Basic knowledge of Linux, open source databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and scripting technologies.
  4. Knowledge of types of data formats and file structures.
  5. Detail oriented.
  6. Able to follow data quality standards, metrics and audit procedures.
  7. Able to learn new software packages rapidly.
  8. Able to work with people.
  9. Able to identify, analyze and troubleshoot problems, required.
  10. Able to maintain confidentiality, due to access to highly sensitive data.
  11. Comply with all security and privacy standards including but not limited to: FERPA, PCI/DSS, GDPR
