Position Summary

The Director of Marketing leads the development and execution of marketing strategies to enhance Asbury Seminary’s visibility, enrollment, and brand identity. This role oversees digital content, website management, graphic design, social media, and enrollment marketing, ensuring alignment with enrollment goals. The Director manages a cross-functional team and collaborates with key departments to engage prospective students, current students, alumni, and ministry partners.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Strategic Leadership & Brand Development
    • Develop and execute a holistic marketing strategy aligned with the institution’s mission and enrollment goals.
    • Promote branding, messaging, and visual identity to maintain consistency across digital and print platforms.
    • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to refine messaging and outreach strategies.
    • Ensure a unified brand voice across all marketing materials, web content, social media, and admissions communications.
  2. Team Leadership & Cross-Departmental Collaboration
    • Lead and manage a marketing team, overseeing strategy, execution, and collaboration across enrollment marketing, digital content, branding, social media, and web development to support institutional goals.
    • Provide mentorship, training, and professional development for marketing staff.
    • Collaborate with key institutional stakeholders to ensure marketing initiatives align with broader institutional goals and priorities
  3. Enrollment & Digital Marketing Strategy
    • Oversee SEO, SEM, and digital advertising strategies to increase inquiries and applications.
    • Develop and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, social media, print, web) targeting prospective students.
    • Implement lead nurturing strategies within Slate CRM to optimize recruitment pipelines.
    • Ensure effective communication flows and recruitment messaging in collaboration with the Admissions Office.
    • Create targeted campaigns for various student demographics, including residential, hybrid, and online students.
  4. Website & User Experience Optimization
    • Ensure the seminary’s website is optimized for usability, accessibility, SEO, and lead generation.
    • Oversee content updates, UX enhancements, and seamless integration with enrollment platforms.
    • Utilize Google Analytics and user behavior data to continuously improve website experience.
    • Lead efforts to enhance mobile accessibility and site performance.
  5. Social Media & Content Strategy
    • Oversee a comprehensive social media strategy to increase engagement across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
    • Lead content marketing initiatives, including student success stories, faculty insights, and ministry impact narratives.
    • Supervise video production, photography, and multimedia storytelling to strengthen brand messaging.
    • Monitor and analyze social media performance to adjust strategies for maximum engagement.
    • Ensure a consistent tone and messaging across social media platforms and marketing materials to reinforce brand identity and institutional voice.
  6. Marketing Analytics & Budget Oversight
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting systems to measure ROI on marketing campaigns.
    • Track and analyze enrollment marketing performance using data-driven insights.
    • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective and high-impact execution of initiatives.
    • Oversee relationships with external vendors for paid media, print production, and digital advertising.
  7. Content Writing, Editing, & Strategy
    • Research, write, edit, and publish compelling content to engage prospective students and external audiences.
    • Ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to Asbury Seminary’s voice, brand guidelines, and theological positioning.
    • Develop persuasive and audience-specific copy for marketing materials, including brochures, newsletters, email campaigns, and promotional assets.
    • Proofread and edit content for accuracy, tone, and grammatical excellence ensuring high editorial standards.
    • Collaborate with faculty, students, and alumni to create compelling storytelling pieces, testimonials, and impact narratives.
    • Maintain a library of written content assets, including editorial calendars, messaging guidelines, and content templates.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Experience in marketing or enrollment-related fields, preferably in higher education or nonprofit marketing.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with CRM, preferably Slate, and marketing automation tools.
  • Strong proficiency in SEO, Google Analytics, social media strategy, and content marketing.
  • Manage relationships with marketing agencies and vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality marketing products and services.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, UX/UI best practices, and accessibility standards.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and video production tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data and insights to drive marketing strategies.
  • Self-motivated and solutions-oriented, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, with the ability to receive and apply constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in at least one relevant conference or training annually.
