Hours: 37.5 per week

 

Position Summary:

This position conducts general maintenance on/of Asbury Theological Seminary's property. This includes the Kentucky campus and its facilities as well as Kalas Village and Rose Hill Estate. The duties of this position are varied and dependent upon the immediate need of the Seminary, but also include such emergencies relating to the facilities as well as seasonal weather issues requiring work outside of normal business hours.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks for routine maintenance as well as new fabrications
  • Basic understanding and ability to perform electrical tasks for work orders and routine maintenance
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps, etc. to maintain routine maintenance on such equipment
  • Ability to repair and install drywall as necessary
  • Knowledge/understanding of painting
  • Ability to perform physical labor tasks, including but not limited to scraping, deep-cleaning, moving furniture/heavy objects, operating on a ladder, etc. on a regular basis
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks including but not limited to the replacement of ceiling tiles/lightbulbs/light switches/HVAC filters/etc., operating and maintaining equipment used for specialized tasks and duties, and monthly checks on Exit and Emergency lights throughout campus.
  • The removal of trash and recyclables to the appropriate receptacle as necessary
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of multiple disciplines in order to assist the skilled technicians (plumber, mechanic, and/or HVAC) if necessary
  • Utilizes both manual and power tools to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Creates and maintains a clean, organized work area that meets all safety standards of the Seminary
  • Maintains an observable commitment to Asbury Theological Seminarys Personnel Policies and the Ethos Statement

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Must be available for emergency problems on an on-call basis, including but not limited to:
    • Emergencies which require attention outside of normal business hours
    • Inclement weather conditions requiring the employee to come to campus and clear sidewalks, roads, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks appropriate to the position through documented experience
  • Perfunctory knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry in order to fulfill general maintenance tasks as necessary
  • Excellent oral communication in order to work effectively with other staff/faculty
  • Excellent comprehension of the written English language
  • Works well independently as well as in a team environment
  • Adherence to all of Asbury Theological Seminary's policies, procedures, and Ethos Statement
