Description

Phoenix Paper Wickliffe LLC is searching for qualified candidates to assume the role of Environmental Engineer.

Summary: This position is an opportunity to be part of a stable, rapidly expanding organization that offers a tremendous amount of growth potential. Reporting directly to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Engineer will support an integrated pulp and paper mill with multi-media responsibilities.

 

Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsibility for air compliance demonstrations, recordkeeping, and permitting support at a complex, major industrial source
  • Work closely with operational leaders to manage practical, cost-effective solutions to environmental issues
  • Manage environmental compliance programs and perform both regulatory and non-regulatory related reporting.
  • Interact with outside regulatory agencies, hourly workers, management, and members of the public.
  • Develop cost-effective compliance strategies for existing and emerging regulations that support business needs.
  • Provide environmental technical support in multiple medias.
  • Provide back up and support for other environmental staff including 24-hour availability via phone during scheduled on-call weeks and occasional work beyond normal work hours to support the operation.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related Engineering or science field preferred.
  • Air permitting experience and compliance demonstration in a similar industrial facility is preferred. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year to three (3) years of related technical engineering experience preferred.
  • Must be able to assume responsibility multiple media and lead the air compliance program for a complex industrial location.
  • Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, negotiating, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills including proven experience developing compliance strategies and compliance program reporting.
