Job Title: Technology Integration Specialist 

Supervisor: Assistant Head of School 

Regular Daily Schedule: 8:15 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Calendar to Follow: 10-Month Academic Calendar

Status: Exempt

Term: 10 Months

 

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Technology Integration Specialist implements an effective technology program that strives to provide technology access to all students enrolled within the program. The Technology Integration Specialist is responsible for implementing the instructional technology program, which includes teaching Upper School classes, as well as serving as a curriculum consultant to teachers and related service providers who are seeking strategies and tools to integrate technology into classroom curriculum.

Essential Functions

  • Must be physically present from 8:15 am through 3:30 pm - no exceptions can be made
  • Must be able to adhere to the Physical Requirements listed below - no exceptions can be made

Technology Head Teacher:

  • Teach technology classes to all cohorts at Upper School
  • Participate in Technology and/or Specials Department Meetings with Technology Teachers across sites and with relevant School Leaders
  • Develop and maintain appropriate curriculum to meet needs of students
  • Provide access to the technology lab to teachers using the space
  • Maintain all school based technology equipment
  • Communicate Technology Lab needs to administration
  • Collaborate and consult with school leaders regarding new initiatives, program development, and enhancements to curriculum
  • Maintain lab schedule and ensure balance among lab/laptop cart/iPad usage among departments and faculty
  • Maintain policies and procedures for student and faculty use of technology
  • Plan classroom activities that promote appropriate technology knowledge acquisition for all students
  • Maintain observations and class assessments of student work
  • Maintain current attendance records and emergency information
  • Utilize a variety of instruction strategies, materials, and resources to implement lesson plans
  • Document student progress in Progress Reports as requested
  • Monitor all students’ safe and appropriate usage of technology
  • Support student technology use at school events in collaboration with School Leadership

 

Technology Consultant

  • Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to integrate technology within the classroom
  • Offer techniques, strategies, and problem-solving advice regarding technology within the classroom (SMART boards, iPads, software, assistive technology, etc.)
  • Serve as a resource regarding new opportunities related to using technology within the special education population, including, but not limited to: coaching of faculty and staff, attending and/or presenting at conferences, parent trainings
  • Collaborate with related service teams regarding assistive technology integration when appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to role in order to maintain proficiency in the latest educational technology resources available for staff and students
  • Support the school technology infrastructure that enables teachers and related service providers to utilize technology tools within their classroom (e.g. maintaining rosters in SeeSaw; providing AAC recommendations and feedback).

 

General Professional Responsibilities

  • Arrive at school in a timely fashion
  • Hold frequent, regularly schedule planning meetings with relevant staff. Share knowledge, techniques, and strategies with staff so that may be encouraged to implement them themselves
  • Provide direction for assistant teachers and paraprofessionals within the classroom
  • Attend and participate in site and school-wide meetings and training programs
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
  • Properly train students in procedures to be followed during emergencies
  • Utilize supervisor for guidance, discussions, collaboration, and self-growth
  • Develop professional growth goals with supervisor and create and implement a plan to reach the agreed upon goals

 

Education and Prior Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of technology tools and resources for schools is mandatory (including Google Suite, Seesaw, etc.)
  • Master’s degree required
  • New York State Teaching Certification preferred

Professional Development

All Cooke staff are responsible for developing a professional growth plan with their supervisor.  Staff training is an integral part of the Cooke school and as such is a requirement of the job.  All staff must at a minimum: attend all scheduled Staff Development activities throughout the year and participate in staff orientation scheduled for the last week in August.
