Position Summary
Southern Land Company, a national luxury real estate development and construction firm is seeking a full-time Design and Procurement Associate for our office in Plano, TX. Project types include restaurant, multi-family and residential community amenities. Role offers highly collaborative team structure across the firm and full range of project responsibilities.
The Design and Procurement Associate will assist the interior design team and Director of the interior design department with daily tasks associated with overseeing design of luxury multifamily properties nationwide. Must have a deep knowledge and aptitude of hospitality/multi-family interior design, construction documentation, FF&E, purchasing and project management. A great understanding of standards, budgeting, sourcing, purchasing, freight management, and installation practices will be necessary to be effective in this role. Clear communication with client, contractors, suppliers, designers, logistics and installation teams are pertinent to deliver successful projects. Delivering to the created design intent and remaining within budget and timeline are extremely important. Exceptional attention to detail a must.
Essential Functions
- Manage multiple projects at one time.
- Assist with the maintenance of the library by meeting with vendor representatives to increase awareness of new products and material/catalog updates.
- Assist with upkeep of resources in database.
- Research and source materials, fixtures, furniture, window treatments and accessories.
- Competent understanding of the design and procurement process.
- Ability to work with Interior Designers and Procurement team to ensure design intent is met with FF&E deliverables.
- Work with Director to determine deliverable schedule for projects.
- Work with Interior Designers to develop and maintain FF&E specifications and budgets by project.
- Assist designers in answering RFI’s and processing submittals.
- Support Interior Designers with day-to-day purchasing, data entry and operations.
- Knowledgeable of appropriate costs, budgeting and estimating techniques for FF&E and finish materials.
- Assist with creation of cashflow, status reports and budgets as directed.
- Request quotes and oversee all purchases; place and manage all orders and acknowledgements.
- Monitor purchase orders to ensure purchase orders meet company standards and the product is delivered accurately and on time.
- Responsible for follow-up on all purchase orders with vendors, request acknowledgement, and proforma invoices as necessary.
- Track orders, deliveries, and shipments.
- Manage third party warehouse deliveries and inventory.
- Research and maintain industry knowledge, changes, and best practices.
- Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with design team and vendors.
- Adept technical knowledge of installation coordination of FF&E furnishings, decorative lighting, drapery and other related interior design items.
- Site inspections and FF&E punch list as required.
- Minimal travel may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software and Bluebeam.
- Communicates well verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from a CIDA-accredited school
- 5+ years related experience in multifamily/hospitality interior design
- Experience with writing furniture specifications and procurement procedures
