Position Summary:   

The Bar Supervisor plays a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by overseeing the daily operations of the hotel bar or lounge. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the Bar Supervisor ensures that all guests receive prompt, professional, and courteous service in a well-maintained and welcoming environment. 

Supervisory Responsibility:  Bartender, Servers, Bar Attendant, Hosts 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive, ensuring a positive first impression. 

  • Provide the highest quality of service to the GUEST at all times and anticipate and exceed GUEST expectations.  Know and live the mission, three steps of service and the WLS basics.  Understand the Hotel Improvement Plan. 

  • Supervise staff including bartender, servers and bar attendant.  Oversee staffing levels and make adjustments to ensure service levels are met within labor model. 

  • Assign specific duties to staff for efficient operation of restaurant. 

  • Oversees department in absence of Restaurant Manager. 

  • Schedule, order and complete inventory. 

  • Ensure that all associates have proper supplies, equipment and uniform. 

  • Assist in training new associates according to Certification Program. 

  • Assist in interviewing and hiring new associates for the department. 

  • Communicate performance standards to departmental associates and make recommendations to manager in accordance with progressive discipline policy. 

  • Train associates on safety standards and enforce those standards on a consistent  basis.  Identify associates engaging in unsafe behaviors and retrain them appropriately. 

  • Provide responsible service of alcoholic beverages. 

  • Maintain clean and orderly work area in accordance with hotel standards.  Ensure that food sanitation practices are followed. 

  • Understand and comply with all state liquor laws.  Must hold valid liquor license as required by state. 

  • Control waste, loss and usage per SOP.  Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct beverage problems. 

  • Ensure all bar equipment is in proper working condition. 

  • Ensure that service staff review and successfully complete the TIPS program. 

  • Maintain security of liquor inventories. 

  • Adhere to standard recipes for food and beverage. 

  • Complete weekly equipment check list and completes work orders as necessary. 

  • Post side work duties and ensure staff completes side work as instructed. 

  • Develop cleaning schedule and complete schedule checklist. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • At least 1 year of experience in a hotel or related field preferred. 

  • Previous experience as a Bar supervisor, Manager, or in a managerial customer service role preferred. 

  • Comprehensive understanding of the English language. 

  • Ability to walk, bend, and lift light objects throughout the shift. 

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning. 

  • Knowledge of basic sanitary guidelines. 

  • Able to work: Holidays, weekends and any day/shift. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, welcoming attitude. 

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. 

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively. 

  • Ability to handle guest inquiries, complaints, and concerns with professionalism and courtesy. 

  • Basic knowledge of reservation systems and/or point-of-sale (POS) systems is a plus. 

  • Communicate properly and effectively with the guests, associates and managers.  Effectively respond to guest complaints.  Promote teamwork and associate morale.   

  • Maintain knowledge of hotel property, hotel staff, hotel services, hotel service hours of operation and hotel surroundings (i.e. mall, restaurants). 

  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company. 

  • Compensation: $16.00 to $18.00 per hour
