ORGANIZATION

The mission of Ravenswood Family Health Network (RFHN) is to improve the health of the community by providing culturally sensitive, integrated primary and preventative health care to all, regardless of ability to pay or immigration status, and collaborating with community partners to address the social determinants of health.

 

POSITION SUMMARY    

The Pharmacy Clerk assists patients who are dropping off and picking up prescriptions at pharmacy window, dispenses medications to patients, charges patient co-pays and payments based on insurance and sliding fee scale status, answers incoming calls to pharmacy, keeps work area clean and neat and collaborates with team members to provide excellent customer service.  Provides translation services as needed.  This is a highly confidential position requiring mature judgment and compliance with HIPAA, audit requirements and other regulations.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be performed in accordance with RFHN Policies and Procedures

  1. Greets and checks-in patients and provides them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
  2. Receives and directs new and refill prescriptions for further processing.
  3. Checks health coverage eligibility and processes third party claims.
  4. Accurately charges and collects payment for prescriptions and products dispensed by the pharmacy.
  5. Assists with inventory management and shelf maintenance.
  6. Receives medication orders and restocks shelves.
  7. Answers phone calls, checks voicemails, and calls patients to pick up medication.
  8. Maintains and updates patient data accurately.
  9. Completes daily reports and balances cash register.
  10. Maintains a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
  11. Collects patient feedback to assess satisfaction and identify areas for improvement in patient care and pharmacy services.
  12. Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures HIPAA compliance.
  13. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from accredited high school or GED.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency required.
  • One year of pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, able to meet and deal effectively with the public.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse clients and clinic staff. 
  • Working knowledge of English, spelling and arithmetic, office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to learn and operate cash register and pharmacy computer systems.
  • Reliable, organized, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Ability to read, understand and transcribe pharmaceutical information from the prescription; to maintain complex records and files.
  • Ability to successfully work and interact with all departments throughout the organization.
  • Up to date with COVID-19 vaccines per current CDC guidelines strongly recommended.

 

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $30.00 per hour.  However, the final base salary will be determined upon a number of individualized factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education and certification levels, and departmental budget. We also consider internal equity with our current employees when making final offers.
