Flex-Tec, a subsidiary of Electrical Components International (ECI) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our Byromville, GA location.

To execute our strategy, we are looking to strengthen our operations organization with a Production Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

The manufacturing engineer will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This role will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls, and coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products. The Manufacturing Engineer will directly interface with customers and suppliers. Key responsibilities for this role include operator training and support of the production operations.

The Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Plant Manager in the Byromville, GA location. 

In this role, you will:

  • Interface with Design Teams to drive changes for quality, manufacturability and testability improvements
  • Create operator assembly instructions and product audit procedures
  • Train operators in the proper use of tooling, jigs, fixtures and product assembly
  • Receive, review and process customer documentation, drawings and BOM’s
  • Work directly with customer engineering, purchasing and quality people
  • Load BOM’s into MRP and Manufacturing systems
  • Production line design and setup including product flow and assembly operations
  • Assist with supplier delivery and quality issues as needed
  • Assist Quality with creating Control Plans, PFMEA, PPAPs and other customer quality documentation requirements
  • Work on internal cost reduction projects including process flow and production efficiencies
  • Ability to use AutoCAD and Inventor to edit and manipulate DWG and STP files to create operator instructions
  • Travel to factories and work any issues related to control box assembly and quality
  • Maintain organized project records
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system
  • Perform duties in accordance with ISO/QS9000 and company quality standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; equivalent work-related experience in lieu of degree
  • Manufacturing and electrical knowledge

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be a self-directed professional able to work without direct supervision
  • The ability to drive projects to completion on schedule
  • Ability to manage multiple project events and changing priorities.
  • Strong ability to formulate, evaluate, and implement solutions to production and assembly problems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Positive attitude, and an ability to adapt and learn quickly
  • Ability to design for ease of operator use
  • Working knowledge of CAD and modeling software preferably AutoCAD & Inventor
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel. Power Point, Publisher 
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, customer drawings and BOM’s
  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical problems to root cause
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Willing to travel to customers, suppliers and manufacturing locations if necessary

Physical demands and work environment:

 

Frequent (3–6 hours daily):

  • Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) while operating a computer
  • Operate a computer and other office productivity equipment (e.g., calculator, copy machine, printer); tolerate repetitive movements
  • Hear and communicate effectively in person and on the phone
  • Work in general office conditions

Occasional (up to 3 hours daily):

  • Move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Push, pull, lift, or carry items up to 50 pounds
  • Observe details at close range
  • Maintain files in file cabinets
  • Be exposed to loud noises
  • Travel to other work sites

Constant (6–8+ hours daily):

  • Communicate information and ideas clearly and accurately
  • Read and comprehend written materials

Never (0 hours daily):

  • Ascend/descend ladders (e.g., to service lights or ceiling fans)
  • Work in confined areas
