The Digital Pathology Specialist is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the system at Sagis Diagnostics validated for acquisition, management, and maintenance of pathology information to digitized slides. This process is done utilizing specialized software and hardware to digitize glass slides. The key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

- Slide scanning and image processing – Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting digital slide scanners to create high-resolution images of tissue samples.
- Image analysis – review scanned slides for image quality, check for cover slipping issues, folded tissue and blurred scans. Work with the histology team and pathologists as needed to resolve any issues.
- Quality control – ensure the accuracy and consistency of digital images by following and enforcing the laboratory defined quality control procedures.
- Data Management – manage and maintain the software used for viewing digital images.
- Collaborations with technical staff – consult with pathologists, histology team, and management to provide support in adopting and maintaining digital workflows.
- Training – provide training as needed to other staff members on the use of digital pathology and Sagis defined digital pathology protocols.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
- Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
- Assist with validating remote locations and training remote pathologist on the digital pathology workflow.
