MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification in DA certificate.
- Strong attention to detail, vigilance, and meticulous care on the job.
- Good judgment and critical-thinking skills.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to handle fragile equipment.
- The ability to work well in a team or independently.
- Maintains a clean work area.
- Travel to different locations as needed.
- Training is required upon hire and annually on CDC disinfection, sterilization procedures
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate or ability to obtain BLS certificate before date of hire is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of dental/medical assistant principles and practices
- Knowledge of how to sterilize instruments.
- Knowledge of preventive health concepts
- Knowledge of basic office management techniques
- Knowledge of medical/dental equipment and instruments used to assist in administering care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining clinic quality assurance.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards and documentation.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sterilization Technician job demands include sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are needed. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Must have the ability to lift/push/pull greater than 50 pounds. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office environment within a clinic setting. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with upset people.
