The Volunteer Recruiter is responsible for advancing Canine Companions’ Breeder Caretaker volunteer recruitment goals by executing volunteer recruiting plans and implementing recruitment strategies. The volunteer recruiter is leveraging skills in public speaking, community outreach, customer service and has basic knowledge of volunteer and recruitment lifecycles.  This position is an in-office role, located at our Santa Rosa, CA Headquarters campus. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with national and regional staff members to implement recruitment plans with strategies to increase awareness of our need for Breeder Caretaker volunteers. 

• Identifies community outreach opportunities that are in proximity to Canine Companions Headquarters in Santa Rosa, California.  

• Positively represents Canine Companions in the selected community and school events and actively recruit Breeder Caretakers and Breeder Caretaker community volunteers. 

• Provides excellent customer service to the volunteer prospects and applicants from the initial interest and inquiry to approved volunteers. 

• Facilitates in-person information sessions for prospective volunteers in collaboration with the local volunteer chapters. Supports volunteer engagement team members with onboarding activities. 

• Assists chapter leadership with engaging community outreach activities and lend guidance to leadership to ensure onboarding of new volunteers is engaging and inclusive. 

• Attend organizational events and act as an ambassador for the mission.

Qualifications 

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following: 

Must Have: 

• Minimum 1 year experience recruiting, working with volunteers and/or recruiting volunteers preferred.  

• Strong team player and passion for Canine Companions mission. 

• Ability to communicate Canine Companions mission and volunteer needs to community partners and individual volunteer prospects. 

• Community outreach and public speaking skills. 

• Strong customer service skills. 

• Strong organizational skills with ability to document events and contacts. 

Nice to Have: 

• Affiliation with or prior involvement in Canine Companions programs 

• Previous non-profit experience 

Compensation 

Salary: $25.00 per hour

Schedule: Full-time, Temporary

The base salary range above represents the low and high of the range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
