The Supervisor Canine Wellness is responsible for supervising and training canine wellness staff while participating in the care and maintenance of the kennel complex to provide quality care to dogs and puppies housed in the kennels. This position also is a liaison with other departments in areas involving dog health and behavior. The Supervisor Canine Wellness must possess a thorough knowledge of canine health & general dog care and kennel operations in order to effectively supervise the kennel operations.
Key Responsibilities

Staffing: Supervise Canine Wellness staff to ensure proper staffing and coverage, maintain staff work schedules and oversee scheduling. Anticipate staff vacancies and coordinate adjustments to maintain kennel coverage. Prioritize and coordinate daily, weekly and monthly duties of canine wellness technicians and ensure adherence to rules and procedures.

Dog Care: Provide immediate response to a dog or puppy in distress. Provide and assist in emergency first aid, wound treatment, tests, and exams. Administer approved medications orally, topically or by injection under the direction of veterinarian, as well as assuring consistency and accuracy within the kennels. Recognize common veterinary conditions and maintain familiarity with current treatment protocols as prescribed by the Canine companions Veterinary Hospital.

Program Assistance: Understand approved training skills and leash etiquette for all dogs whether in professional training, puppy, or graduate program. Assist other departments with canine grooming needs. Assist trainers with training activities. Report behavioral issues to instructors and participate in recommended behavioral modification routine.

Kennel Management: Oversee staff training in all kennel management details, including kennel cleaning and maintenance procedures, staff scheduling, and canine health maintenance and treatments that occur in a kennel environment. Monitor, store, and inventory kennel supplies and replenish as needed.

Data Management: Communicate and log all health or veterinary concerns in respective data systems (Dog Tracker/Salesforce, Provet, etc.) Scribe medical results after vet check, follow up as appropriate via email with kennel and training departments. Maintain written records of dogs moving into or out of kennel, individual dog care, or behavior following Canine Companions protocols. Be able to prepare a medical history for dog for the vet and answer questions about the history and concern dog is being evaluated for.

The base salary range above represents the low and high of the range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
