Description

SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company’s reports and statements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Posts accounts receivable cash to accounting software daily.
  • Handles customer requests for invoices/statements, releases orders for customer service.
  • Manages AR Aging report and collects on past due invoices.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects assigned.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting, or finance
  • Experience: 5+ years experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Must have strong technical and analytical skills with a solid cost accounting background.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to make solid, objective, ethical decisions.
  • Able to maintain strict confidence in financial sensitive information and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent communication and analysis skills required accompanied with a persona of a high character teammate.
  • Demonstrable experience with PCs, financial spreadsheets, and accounting software. Preferred experience specifically working with AMTECH reporting software. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel productions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment and interact effectively with other groups and departments, clients, and partners.
