GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Director of Revenue, reporting to the VP of Accounting, will be responsible for ensuring the precision and integrity of the revenue recognition process in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  This position will own the SaaS order to cash revenue process in terms of scaling controls, improving processes, and taking the revenue accounting function to the next level. Requiring a high level of motivation with a detailed oriented, accuracy focused mindset to execute in the details timely and completely.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review customer contracts, multiple element arrangements, and complex revenue transactions to ensure proper revenue recognition and billing in accordance with company policies, ASC 606, and GAAP.
  • Responsible for all aspects of NetSuite subscriptions and revenue reporting and analysis, as well as, all NetSuite customer data.
  • Subject matter expert on revenue and ASC 606; preparing Standalone Selling Price analysis, Contract Combination, Modification, and Material Right assessments, and Average Customer Life analysis.
  • Drive key month-end revenue close procedures, ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue transactions and conducting detailed reconciliations of revenue and deferred accounts, schedules, and flux analysis.
  • Process and review revenue details, elements, arrangements and plans, and run system journal entries in NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management and SuiteBilling.
  • Enhance and maintain documentation supporting revenue recognition policies, systems, and procedures including ASC 606 memo.
  • Lead the subscription and billing teams in proper execution of daily tasks to achieve both internal and external customer success and meet month end close deadlines.
  • Own the management and reporting of Partner commissions based on revenue and billed transactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AR collection, sales and cs operation teams to support the revenue process.
  • Assist with yearly external audits.
  • Assist in integration and improvement of accounting operations.
  • Ad hoc projects as requested by management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:  

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of SaaS revenue accounting experience, CPA certification preferred
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently and within a team
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Expert Microsoft Office skills in Excel with proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce is highly desirable
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and financial reporting requirements
  • Self-starter willing to think outside of the box, influence change and be proactive on implementing process improvements
  • Adept at pivoting quickly to change with a proactive strategic thinking approach
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Capable of prioritizing projects and tasks in a high transaction volume, fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong understanding of ASC606 and GAAP
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex contracts and financial data
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude, a strong dedication to hard work, and the ability to drive continuous improvement within the revenue process
