Job Summary

A Pediatrician is a medical doctor specialized in providing healthcare to infants, children, and adolescents. The primary focus of a pediatrician is to monitor and manage the physical, emotional, and social well-being of young patients from birth through adolescence. They play a crucial role in promoting healthy growth and development, preventing and treating illnesses, and ensuring overall well-being.

  • Medical Examination and Diagnosis - Conduct thorough medical examinations of infants, children, and adolescents. Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions.
  • Wellness and Preventive Care - Provide routine check-ups and vaccinations. Educate parents and caregivers on preventive healthcare measures and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Monitoring Growth and Development - Monitor and track the growth and development of children, identifying any deviations or concerns.
  • Treatment Planning and Prescription - Develop personalized treatment plans for children with acute or chronic conditions. Prescribe medications, therapies, or other interventions as necessary.
  • Patient and Family Education - Discuss treatment options and provide guidance on managing pediatric health issues.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Teams - Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals. Consult with specialists when necessary.
  • Medical Record Keeping - Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient.
  • Emergency Care - Respond to pediatric emergencies and provide immediate care.
  • Continuing Education - Continuous learning and professional development.
  • Community Engagement - Conduct educational outreach to promote child health and well-being.

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required Education

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty.

Required Experience

  • Residency training in pediatrics.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • State medical license.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine/Family Practice.
  • Current State D.E.A. Certificate.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion and patience when working with children and their families.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience working with a multicultural patient population delivering patient-centric programs that are high quality and cost effective, preferred.
