Job Summary

Behavioral Health Counselor Leads are core members of the Sanitas medical center's care team. The Behavioral Health Counselor Lead supervises clinical activities and clinical care of all program services.  

Essential Job Functions

  • Complete and maintain all documentation in a timely and accurate manner according to all federal, state and center guidelines.
  • Supervise program staff including regular individual and group staff meetings and case consultation; oversee proper patient to staff ratio; provide daily, weekly and/or monthly clinical supervision to program staff as required. 
  • Provide support with in-crisis or problem cases; provide on-going assistance to program staff in coordinating services for patients, including after-hours assistance, support and coverage as needed or scheduled.
  • Support new and existing program staff by providing field training, perspective, and empowerment which enable direct service personnel to deliver the service effectively.
  • Develop staff skills and conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
  • Meet or exceed program productivity expectations on a regular and sustained basis.
  • Ensure that clinicians maintain professional practice standards for group and/or individual therapeutic modalities.
  • Sets individual goals for Collaborative Care Clinicians and implements improvement plans and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Enhance the quality of care, promote ethical conduct, and contribute to positive outcomes for both clinicians and their clients.
  • Ensures compliance with related federal, state, and local regulations, as well as departmental and county policies and procedures.
  • Works in tandem with the Program director to research policy issues and develop recommendations for program improvement.

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Required Education

  • Master’s degree in counseling or related field (Social work, Mental health counseling, family and couples’ therapy).

Required Experience

  • Relevant: 2-year experience.
  • Proven experience in supervising clinical staff.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • License by a state board to provide counseling (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LPC).
  • BLS certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Flexible scheduled weekdays – weekend.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
