PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The QA Specialist performs internal audits, reviews, and approves Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and hosts FDA, AABB, and other regulatory agency inspections. This position reviews and approves proposed corrective actions within the error management system and examines/resolves potential duplicate donor files. Interaction with blood center management and staff is required.

This position must be able to work flexible hours and days as needed. Regular full-time attendance during normal working hours.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • MLT or Associate’s Degree
  • ASCP Certification, preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with an emphasis in specialties, such as blood banking, quality assurance experience, and/or chemistry

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and AABB standards, preferred
  • Knowledge of computers and word processing
  • Ability to base decisions on fair and critical analysis of data
  • Ability to interact effectively with operational departments in achieving quality assurance objectives
  • Excellent customer service skills; Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
