Job Title: Equipment Technician

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Under direction of the QAPI Coordinator, the Biomedical Equipment Technician (BET) is responsible for ensuring that all Collection’s equipment is available for use and in accordance with the manufacturer specifications, is clean and operational for daily use. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of equipment, including specific medical laboratory and industrial equipment.

This position effectively manages equipment and equipment files by documenting all critical activities accurately and timely and assists in controlling costs. The BET uses meticulous and logical record management of existing management systems. This position assists with the management of critical equipment files, properly files and labels equipment and equipment files for storage and communicates and assists with departmental needs. The BET may perform training and/ or assist with on-the-job development of new hire employees and incumbent staff as requested.

This position requires the ability to work overtime and/or float to other areas, as needed. Regular full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology; or technical training school, preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year of experience with equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, record management, and equipment repairs, or a combination of an Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Technology and hands-on experience (to be considered toward meeting the one-year requirement)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and meet all CBC driver guidelines

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of electronic and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair
  • Ability to inspect, test, and diagnose faulty equipment
  • Ability to carry out preventative maintenance and servicing
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for document review, paying attention to detail, completeness, accuracy, grammar and writing
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
