Middle and Upper School Visual Arts Teacher

Full-time position beginning August 18, 2025

 

The Spence School seeks a full-time Visual Arts Teacher for its Middle and Upper School. This position offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team of multidisciplinary artists who guide students through a curriculum focused on developing artistic technique, conceptual thinking, and experimentation. The ideal candidate is a practicing artist and lifelong learner with a collaborative spirit and a passion for teaching students how art-making can be a transformative experience for themselves and their community. 

Responsibilities

  • Teach Middle and/or Upper School (Grades 5-12) Visual Arts, including Ceramics Wheel and Printmaking
  • Maintain the ceramics studio and kiln
  • Participate in department-wide initiatives addressing equity, pedagogy, and curriculum.
  • Serve as a Middle or Upper School Advisor

  • Has sustained experience teaching a range of media, with a focus on ceramics and printmaking
  • Possesses a master's degree or equivalent professional experience.
