Job Summary
This position encompasses a comprehensive approach to safety management, with a focus on compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and standards. The Director of Safety plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, customers, and the public while promoting a culture of safety excellence across the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL DO...
Safety Program Leadership & Culture
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs along with related initiatives to ensure compliance with FMCSA and OSHA regulations to include but not limited to the following:
- Hazardous Fuel Handling
- DOT Driving
- Fire Suppression
- Other OSHA/MSHA requirements
- Other Site-Specific Safety Requirements
- Emergency Response Plans
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for safety management systems, policies, and procedures across the company.
- Promote a culture of safety excellence by fostering employee engagement, accountability, and ownership of safety responsibilities at all levels of the organization.
- Recognize and reward individuals and teams for exemplary safety performance and achievements.
- Drives efforts in creation of company safety committee activities.
Regulatory ComplianceÂ
- Stay current with FMCSA and OSHA regulations, guidelines, and enforcement trends to ensure ongoing compliance and adherence to safety standards.
- Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to relevant stakeholders and departments within the organization.
- Develops and implements compliance training by leveraging principles of People Based Safety.
- Directs and implements safety training that promotes behavior-based safety, for all employees.
- Leads and ensures environmental compliance and reporting is complete and accurate.
Incident Investigation, Reporting, and Claim ManagementÂ
- Oversees incident investigation processes to identify root causes, contributing factors, and corrective actions for safety-related incidents, accidents, or near misses.
- Ensures timely and accurate reporting of safety incidents to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders as required.
- Works closely with operational leaders on incident prevention plans.
- Leads and directs our worker’s compensation claims, medical management, and costs.
Inspections and AuditsÂ
- Oversees Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) site inspections and audits, prepares gap analysis and action plans and follows-up visit with support to ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
- Lead efforts related to injury reporting, incident analysis, and concerns regarding hazards in the workplace.
- Provides oversight and may complete site-specific safety audits and assessments, driver assessments and ride alongs, etc.
- Provides operational leadership with corrective action assignments and completion tracking.
Additional
- Frequent travel will be required to all Senergy facilities.
Supervision of Others
- Safety Manager(s), Safety Coordinator(s)

- Typically work is performed in an office setting and work sites.
- Frequent visits to customer sites of various work environments.
- Occasional work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
- Occasional work in dusty, wet, dirty environments
- Occasional work in hot or cold environments.
Physical Demands
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to move freely around work sites.
- Able to climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, and stoop.
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Able to move about office setting to complete responsibilities.
- Frequent use of phone, computer, and office equipment.
Travel
WHAT YOU WILL BRING...
- Three or more years of leadership experience in Safety Management, Operations Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Five or more years’ experience in Safety Management, Operations Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Thorough understanding of FMCSA and OSHA regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence key stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Strong computer skills and able to learn company systems and processes.
- Adheres to the company’s values and ethical expectations.
- Able to effectively multitask.
- Excellent understanding of OSHA/MSHA regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or a related field.
- Five or more years’ experience in safety management for an oil/gas/transportation or related industry.
- Strong understanding and background with third party management systems (ISNet, Avetta, Variform).
- Current CSP or CIH credential.
- Class A CDL with Hazmat/Tanker endorsement.
