St. Thomas More Parish in Corpus Christi is seeking to hire a Musician for the Music Ministry of the parish. The Music Minister works closely with the Pastor, Secretary and other ministry leaders in leading the music ministry program, as well as actively engaging in leading the worship life of the parish. The primary objective is to create a dynamic and inspiring worship community.

Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Responsible for all aspects of the parish sacred music program, including planning and providing music for weekend masses, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, some weekday Masses, and other liturgical events
- Serve as primary pianist/singer for Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation
- Collaborate with parish staff and family representatives in planning funeral and wedding liturgies
- Oversee and lead volunteers /cantors who wish to help sing/play
- Make sure general liturgical items (song boards, announcements are in place for all weekend, Holy Day and special liturgies
- Attend and participate in Pastoral meetings when asked as part of the Parish Council
- Perform other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate must have the ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, and must be flexible with the work schedule, especially on Holy Days and for special events.
