St. Patrick Catholic School in Corpus Christi is seeking exceptional individuals for the following position: After-School Care Leader.

St. Patrick Catholic School provides a beautiful education, teaching the “whole child” through an outstanding academic program, spiritual formation, athletics, fine arts, and extracurricular activities.  We are a family-oriented community and strive to know, love, and serve God in everything we do.

The after-school care program is designed to provide quality supervision for students whose parents need after-school childcare. Care is provided until all students are picked up by their parents/guardians at 5:30 pm. Hours for workers may vary depending on the need for staff, and workers must be flexible to work with students from ages 3-12. All workers must remain calm, positive, and upbeat to provide a nurturing atmosphere for all students.

 

Ministerial Character:

The Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (The Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.


 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.

  • As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Provide after-school supervision for students
  • Observe, monitor, and participate in children’s play activities whether small group, whole group, etc.
  • Provide supervised playtime outside (weather permitting) to provide a sage and positive environment
  • Efficiently redirect inappropriate student behaviors and implement the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior
  • Foster and support students' spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development 
  • Check students in and sign them out to approved adults
  • Communicate with the supervisor regarding problems that may arise during after-school care hours
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Kind Disposition

  • Experience with Children

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and walk around supervising playground and classroom activities

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

  • Submit to employment required screenings, criminal background, drug screening, and MVR

  • Obtain certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources

  • Position requires adherence to diocesan policies and procedures

 

HOURS:
Part time.  Hours: 2:45-5:45 daily
