The Safety & Workers’ Compensation Administrator plays a vital role in supporting Storm Smart’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives by promoting a safe work environment, minimizing risk, and ensuring full compliance with all regulatory and company safety standards. This position is heavily focused on safety program coordination, Workers’ Compensation administration, incident prevention, reporting, and employee safety training across all Storm Smart locations.

 

This role assists with conducting workplace safety inspections, coordinating corrective actions, managing injury and claim documentation, supporting regulatory compliance, and reinforcing a culture of safety companywide.
Additionally, this position will work closely with the Fleet Administrator to support safety-related reporting, accident documentation, and employee/driver safety trainings that intersect with companywide safety initiatives.


 

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct and assist with workplace safety inspections, hazard assessments, and compliance audits to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Support accident and incident investigations, including documentation, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up.

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for Workers’ Compensation reporting, including claim intake, injury documentation, provider communication, return-to-work updates, and ongoing claim follow-up.

  • Maintain all Workers’ Compensation files, OSHA logs, exposure records, and required documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.

  • Track, schedule, and maintain records for required employee safety training, including new hire safety onboarding, OSHA topics, equipment safety, and certifications.

  • Assist the EHS team in developing and updating Safety Policies, SOPs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Emergency Response Plans.

  • Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, state regulatory requirements, and internal EHS standards.

  • Monitor and report on safety performance indicators (incident rates, near misses, WC trends, observations) to identify risk patterns and opportunities for improvement.

  • Support safety initiatives such as safety meetings, toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and safety awareness campaigns.

  • Collaborate with supervisors and leadership to reinforce safe behaviors and prevent injuries.

  • Partner with the Fleet Administrator on:

    • Safety-related reporting and documentation

    • Accident and incident data sharing

    • Coordinating driver safety training sessions

    • Communicating safety expectations and corrective actions to impacted employees


Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation for all safety programs and Workers’ Compensation activities.

  • Prepare reports related to safety performance, incident tracking, trend analysis, and compliance requirements.

  • Assist with scheduling meetings, claim appointments, safety training, and vendor coordination.

  • Provide administrative support including data entry, document preparation, and internal safety communications.

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Workers’ Compensation processes, OSHA regulations, and workplace safety principles.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive injury/claim information.

  • Effective communication skills for interacting with employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, medical professionals, and regulatory agencies.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with excellent attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Experience with safety or incident tracking systems is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.


Education / Experience / Certifications

  • High school diploma required.

  • Associate’s degree in safety, risk management, business, or a related field preferred.

  • 1–3 years of experience in safety administration, Workers’ Compensation management, or a related field.

  • Safety certifications such as OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or risk management credentials are a plus.

  • Bilingual (Spanish / English)

The work environment for this position predominantly involves an office setting with a quiet to moderate noise level.
