Job Summary
We are looking for a talented product engineer to facilitate the design and manufacturability of our next line of exciting products. As a product engineer, you will be working closely with the design team to create industry-relevant products that meet company specifications. To ensure success as a product engineer, you should have excellent skills in communication, technology insights and application, analysis and design, good working knowledge of design software (Solid Works), and advanced troubleshooting skills. A top-notch product engineer will be able to transform ideas into high-end products that perfectly meet the needs of our customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a crucial contributor through the entire product development lifecycle from initial project orientation, design, development, prototyping and production.
- Develop technology-based design ideas and concepts based on technology research.
- Create sketches and visualizations of innovative applications to include rough technology and product designs using sketches and computer software
- Assist in development of product configuration, production, and release. Coordinate with Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing and Sales to ensure a smooth introduction.
- Evaluate application feasibility and provide recommendation to the team. Compile test data and technical reports to support product validation and improvement.
- Participate in cross-functional team that owns the action plans to deliver commercial products
- Accountable partner in design, development, and prototyping. Collaborate with cross functional teams to aid in the production of media, instruction, and or visual content for new product launches
- Create designs and specifications using computer software modeling techniques to ensure products conform to engineering design
- Coordinate with sourcing/procurement team to identify and quality appropriate materials and components. Write Bill of Materials and escalate to teams accountable to action to ensure delivery to market timelines are accurate.
Education – Experience Requirements
- Solid Works 3 years’ experience minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field
- Five (5) years’ mechanical design and development experience should include knowledge of manufacturing environment
- In-depth knowledge of CAD and/or CAM software (SolidWorks preferred). Ability to create 3-D models, assemblies and drawings preferred
- Ability to visualize theoretical models and design ideas
- A keen eye for detail
- Advanced knowledge of design principles and techniques, mathematics, tolerances and interpretation of precision drawing and solid models, as well as finite element analysis (FEA)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good project management skills
- Travel up to 30% as needed
- Minimum of 3 years of technology application development and product design experience
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
