POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Controller will oversee the accounting functions and be responsible for the overall day-to-day activities of the finance department. This position will manage department controls and procedures while ensuring that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy. The Controller will also assist other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the general accounting duties of the department including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury & fixed assets.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Oversee treasury functions including accurate cash flow forecasting and bank reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records and participate in audits or reconciliations.
  • Coordinate annual audit with outside firm.
  • Manage and prepare the financial portion of the annual budget including the income statement, gross profit, detailed overhead expenses, balance sheet and cashflow.
  • Prepare quarterly income statement, balance sheet & cashflow projections for the Board of Directors.
  • Develop cost accounting practices and maintain accurate standard costs.
  • Prepare / coordinate the preparation of federal, state, and local property and income tax returns.  Manage any federal or state tax audit.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and support the accounting team.
  • Strong financial management and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with non-accounting professionals.
  • Demonstrated history of taking initiative to improve processes.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting, preferably with management experience.
  • Manufacturing cost accounting experience a strong plus.
  • Proven experience in driving process improvement.
  • Proficiency in MS office, especially excel and experience with ERP systems (IFS experience a plus).
