Position Summary
The Server will possess a passion for providing exceptional guest services and have a strong understanding of the food industry. As a Server, you will play a key role in creating memorable dining experiences for our guests by delivering high-quality service and ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently.                                                                                                                        Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Menu Knowledge: Understanding the menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and any potential allergens or dietary restrictions to answer guest questions and make recommendations.
- Beverage Knowledge: Knowing the drink menu, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, wine pairings, and cocktail ingredients.
- Food Safety and Sanitation: Understanding proper food handling procedures, health regulations, and sanitation practices to prevent contamination.
- Special Requests and Allergies: Awareness of common dietary preferences (e.g., gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan) and allergens (e.g., nuts, dairy) and knowledge of how to accommodate them.
- Up selling Techniques: Understand and use techniques for promoting specials, recommending high-margin items, and suggesting add-ons (like appetizers, desserts, or additional drinks) to increase check averages.
- Point of Sale (POS) Systems: Proficiency in using the POS system to place orders, process payments, and manage guest checks efficiently.
- Table Etiquette and Service Standards: Knowledge of appropriate table settings, serving sequences, and etiquette (e.g., serving from the left, clearing from the right).
- Greeting Guests: Welcoming guests promptly and courteously.
- Serving Food and Beverages: Delivering food and drinks to guests following service etiquette, ensuring proper presentation and correct orders.
- Checking back: Regularly checking on guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction, refilling drinks, and addressing any concerns or special requests.
- Processing Payments: Handling guest payments, managing cash transactions, and processing credit card payments accurately.
- Handling Complaints: Addressing guest complaints or issues professionally and promptly. Notify the manager of any unsatisfactory comments or issues.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensuring that the dining area, server stations, remain clean and organized throughout the shift.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinating with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other servers to ensure timely and efficient service, including handling large groups or events.
- Stocking and Inventory: Restocking supplies such as napkins, utensils, condiments, and beverages at server stations to prepare for service.
