The Carlstar Group Operations Associate ll is an hourly position responsible for continuous performance according to assigned job specifications. Operations Associate ll employees can be trained and assigned to any of the roles of the below listed jobs at the manufacturing plant, and often will rotate between the different jobs as business needs dictate - 3&4 Calendar Support, Bead Winder, Radial Apex, Radial Cap Slit, SP Assembler, SP Splicer, SP Molder, Bias CutterÂ
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 3&4 Calendar SupportÂ
Operate stock feeder and adjust feed to match out feed to maintain a uniform bank on the mill or extruder.Â
Identify and explain the different types of stock.Â
Knowledge of how to start a band of rubber around the mill roll.Â
Ability to adjust mill roll gap and explains the purpose for doing it.Â
Ability to safely cut rubber on mill and slab off.Â
 Provide a consistent and continuous feed strip to the calendar.Â
Demonstrate and explain proper way to record and dispose of scrap and rework.Â
Knowledge of how-to setup the calendar and adjust it to produce product within specifications.Â
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Bead WinderÂ
Perform required quality checks (weight, length, splice verification, width, angle, thickness)Â
 Check specifications in the computer and record the card the information and initials. Â
 Ability to stand at station and splice the fabric together. Fabric is cut according to specifications for the desired catalog number.Â
 Ability to take off and place on fabric rack using hoist.Â
 Demonstrate ability to put new fabric on conveyor belt and begin splicing. Splice rubber coming into basin of machine.Â
 Produce quality bead.Â
 Set up, operate, and repair bead machines based on Standard Work Procedures.Â
 Make bead wire spools. Â
Track inventory of in-process materials.Â
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Radial ApexÂ
Perform required quality checks (width, length, and splice quality)Â
Check specifications on the beehive.Â
Stand and move around at workstation to make apexed beads.Â
Operator and monitor extruderÂ
Thread festoon with material, set up and operate apexer per specifications.Â
Ability to make necessary adjustments to Apexing unit to meet quality requirements.Â
Safely operates Apexing unit per Standard WorkÂ
 Produce quality beads in a timely and safe manner according to Standard Work ProcedureÂ
Set up and operate Extruder and apexing stations.Â
Track inventory of in-process materialsÂ
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Radial Cap SlitÂ
Successfully and safely operate the slitter per Standard Work ProceduresÂ
Perform required quality checks (length, splice verification, width, thickness)Â
Demonstrates the ability to check specifications in the computer and record.Â
Ability to stand at station and splice the fabric together.Â
Cut according to specifications.Â
Take off and place on mother fabric rolls.Â
Thread windup with fabric, start bobbins and remove when completed.Â
Demonstrates ability to make splices and repair splices as necessary.Â
Ability to make necessary adjustments to Slitter unit to meet quality requirements.Â
Track inventory of in-process materialsÂ
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SP AssemblerÂ
Assemble semi-pneumatic tires, understand Bom’s, and other duties as assigned.Â
Understands how to operate all stations within the assembly process.Â
inspect tires to identify defects and scrap and package tires.Â
Use tools safely and efficiently (i.e. torque gun)Â
Detect and report faulty operation, defective, and/or unusual material condition.Â
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SP SplicerÂ
Perform required quality checks such as weight, length, and splice verification.Â
Understand the SWl for the extruder, splicer, and hot knife splicer, other duties as necessary.Â
Learn the unique positioning of each extrusion (stage parts right side up or right side down for shrinking) to allow the molding operator to load correctly.Â
Setup splicer and hot-knife splicer (changing clamps, add spacers, determine the stroke length)Â
Adjust splicer and hot-knife splicer to meet quality requirements for splicing.Â
Understand the information on data collection sheets and the hot-knife lengths sheets to setup and run the splicer and hot-knife operation.Â
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SP MolderÂ
Assemble product using various types of equipment.Â
Operate machine components safely and efficiently.Â
Understand components should be used for each process according to Standard Work ProcedureÂ
lnspect product to identify defects and scrap.Â
Use tools safely and efficiently.Â
Read and understand build specifications required for successful operation of machinery.Â
Detect and report faulty operation, defective, and/or unusual material conditions.Â
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Bias CutterÂ
Safely and effectively operate bias cutter according to Standard Work ProcedureÂ
Perform required quality checks (weight, length, splice verification, width, angle, thickness)Â
Check specifications and enter data appropriately in computer.Â
Ability to stand stationary at bias cutter machine for long periods of time.Â
Ability to use hoist to take off and place on fabric rack.Â
Ability to adjust bias cutter to meet quality requirements.Â
